Miquel Flores

Saxophone

Miquel is currently completing his Master’s in classical and contemporary saxophone performance at The Sibelius Academy in Finland – one of the most prestigious conservatories in the world. He has studied under Xabier Casal, Joonatan Rautiola, Nikita Zimin, Daniel Gauthier, Simon Diriq, Lars Mlekusch, David Brutti, Nicolas Arsenijevic, Angel Soria and Xavier Larsson, among others. Miquel holds several international chamber music prizes and ample experience playing for wind-band and symphony orchestras in Spain and Finland. As he perfects his music skills in solo performance, he is also pursuing a degree in pedagogy at Sibelius and developing his skills in orchestral conducting. His native languages are Catalan and Spanish, he speaks fluent English– and two or three words in Finnish.

Miquel combines his studies with his life on tour as baritone saxophone for his ensemble Lítore Quartet (saxophone quartet). Founded in 2019, Lítore has received some of the most prestigious international awards and selections in chamber music festivals, including the World Sax Congress of Gran Canaria (2023). Some of Miquel's most prestigious performances include his debut at the Palau de la Música Catalana, and his performance with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
