Nolan Hennessey is a tenor trombonist who hails from Plaistow, New Hampshire. He first joined the New England Conservatory Preparatory School Philharmonic Orchestra which he traveled with to Norway for a summer tour in 2017. After graduating highschool, Nolan attended the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Mark Kellogg and earned his Bachelors in Trombone performance as well as the prestigious Performer’s Certificate by unanimous decision from the faculty committee. In addition to this, Nolan was recognized by the Eastman trombone faculty with the Steve Witser Memorial Award and Scholarship as well as the best section player award voted by his peers. Nolan recently graduated from Rice’s Shepherd School of Music where he attended on full scholarship for his Masters of Trombone Performance. During his time at Rice, Nolan studied with Allen Barnhill.

Nolan also performed several times with the Syracuse Symphoria Orchestra during his time in western New York. He attended Eastern Music Festival in 2019, and has also been accepted to festivals including National Music Festival, Summit Brass Institute and the Eastman Trombone Institute.

Nolan currently resides in Houston where he is an adjunct faculty member at the University of St. Thomas and private lesson and masterclass instructor teacher in local schools. He has had the pleasure of playing with the Houston Symphony Principal Brass Quintet as well as the Houston Brass Quintet. Recently Nolan competed in the South Eastern Trombone Symposium Excerpt Competition where he won second place. In his free time Nolan enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with friends.
